Theta’s National philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), is an incredible national organization that provides a greatly needed service to abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers are trained citizens who represent these children in court by researching the child's background details to help the court make a sound decision about the child's future. They are basically the child’s only voice in court. The CASA program consists of 930 local programs and 46 state organizations. In 2002, 70,130 CASA volunteers served an estimated 279,160 children.

CASA’s national website can be found at www.nationalcasa.org.

This past year we organized two events to benefit our national philanthropy, CASA. In February, we hosted our Second Annual Hearts of Gold Auction. Friends, family, and alumni joined us for a fun night full of fabulous food and prizes. Thanks to the hard work of all our active members and the gracious participation of our guests and donors, we raised over $20,000! Secondly, we hosted our First Annual Kappa Alpha Theta Batteball Tournament. The UW campus was invited to participate in the fun-filled three days of activities by participating . in intense dodgeball matches, an entertaining talent show, and a delicious late-night snack bar. This exciting tournament raised over $3000 for CASA!
